A food collection charity is teaming up with the UK’s biggest supermarket chain to help struggling families this Christmas.
The Help Feed People in Need appeal will see Tesco and The Trussel Trust Foodbanks work together, asking shoppers to donate items of food at their local store.
Mayor Councillor Olwen Chadderton will open a foodbank at Tesco Chadderton on Sunday at 9am. People wishing to donate food can also do so from Saturday and the bank will be open until 6pm.
Andrew Barr, Co-ordinator of Oldham Foodbank says: “More than 1,100 people have been helped by Oldham Foodbank since the start of 2012, as more people struggle to make ends meet in the current economic climate. This Christmas will be tough for many local people so Oldham Foodbank is delighted to be part of Tesco’s Help Feed People in Need appeal”
