SADDLEWORTH Parish Council is looking into the possibility of appointing a town crier.
Parish councillors were greeted by the sound of a handbell and the cry of “Oyez! Oyez!” as Chadderton Town Crier Reg Lord and Standard Bearer Michael Lawson paid them a visit.
The crier’s main task is to add a touch of pageantry and colour to public occasions.
