Ex-Remploy worker hits out at help

Minister’s jobs figures disputed
A FORMER Oldham Remploy worker clashed with a Government minister over the help given to disabled people in finding jobs.
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) said last week 13 of the 109 staff from Remploy Oldham have found new jobs.
Disability Minister Esther McVey has since said said 69 people came forward to ask for help and 19 had got new jobs.
But Talit Karim, who was made redundant from Remploy earlier this year, said he hadn’t been given any help and refuted the figures.
He said: “There were 115 people when I worked at Remploy Oldham. I did the payroll, so I know.”
He claims only around five former workers had found new jobs.
“I am seeking help. I have asked for help but I can’t find a job,” he said.
Ms McVey insisted her department had been giving specialist support. She said she was willing to speak to Mr Karim to give him any support she could.
