I can find Keith, says murder victim’s brother

THE brother of murdered Keith Bennett says he is certain he can pinpoint where the youngster is buried.

Ian Brady and Myra Hindley admitted killing 12-year-old Keith but failed to tell police or his family where he was buried, leaving his mother Winnie Johnson — who died of cancer in August — unable to lay him to rest.

Now Alan Bennett says he can pinpoint the burial site down to an area no wider than two football pitches, thanks to new evidence.

He said: “I have gathered compelling new evidence, much of which we received from interviews with David Smith — the chief prosecution witness at the Moors trial in 1966, and also from another source who was once very close to Ian Brady.

“I have presented this to the police but they failed to act on it and did not even interview David Smith themselves, even though he made it clear he was willing to speak at length to detectives and also to return to the moor.”

After another victim’s body — Pauline Reade — was recovered in 1987, a decision was made to call off the search.
