Officers pay their respects at the memorial garden
THE parents of fallen police officers Nicola Hughes and Fiona Bone attended the opening of a special garden unveiled in their memory.
Police chiefs, colleagues and relatives of the police constables from Diggle and Sale — killed while on duty on September 18 — remembered the pair at a moving ceremony at Hyde police station. The memorial garden was created following donations from members of the community, local businesses and fellow police officers.
Bryn and Sue Hughes, Nicola’s parents, said yesterday: “We would like to thank everyone who has been involved with the planning and development of this memorial garden.
“Their memories will live on, not only in the hearts of their families but also in the hearts of colleagues at the Police Service and the public who visit this memorial garden.”
