Council services scaled back
Date published: 14 December 2012
MANY council operations and facilities will be scaled down over Christmas.
Oldham Council’s out-of-hours services will remain available for urgent situations such as social care and other emergencies but residents are asked to use them only in genuine cases.
Services affected over Christmas and New Year, and details of emergency contact telephone numbers, are outlined on the Oldham Council website at www.oldham.gov.uk/ christmas_closures.
Posters will be on display at affected venues with full details of the closure arrangements.
There will be no household waste collections on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
Households whose waste collections would normally fall on these days have an alternate collection of food and garden waste on Saturday, December 29.
All other collections for general rubbish, paper, cardboard, glass, cans and plastic bottles will be collected on the next scheduled collection date.
Any additional waste — appropriately bagged — will also be cleared by collection crews on these days.
Oldham Council staff are taking four days out of their annual leave entitlement allowance on December 24, 27, 28 and 31 for a Christmas closure.
