Town centre poised for Victorian Weekend
Date published: 14 December 2012
CHRISTMAS shoppers will be transported back in time at Oldham town centre’s Victorian Weekend from tomorrow.
Shoppers can ride on a big carousel as part of the free event, as well as enjoying free roast chestnuts, non-alcoholic mulled wine and traditional games with prizes.
From 10am-5pm each day, the High Street will enjoy brass bands and Dickensian characters will hand out free hats, balloons and sweets to children.
The Victorian Christmas Weekend is the last of the free town-centre Christmas events of the year.
There’s free parking on both days in Hobson Street, just off Union Street.
Other attractions include face-painting and balloon modelling for children from 11am to 3pm at Tommyfield Market Hall tomorrow and craft activities at Gallery Oldham from 1 to 4pm. There’s also free car parking for three hours in council car parks until January 6, 2013.
On Sunday, Peppa Pig will be visiting Spindles at 11am, 12.30pm, 2pm, 3pm, and 4pm.
