Five held in crime swoop

POLICE have arrested five local men in an operation targeting serious organised crime.
In the early hours of Wednesday, officers executed 15 warrants in the Oldham area and recovered £50,000, plus computers and mobile phones.
Five men aged 20, 25, 27, 33 and 52, all from the Clarksfield area, were arrested on suspicion of the importation and supply of heroin.
Det Insp Chris Mossop, from the Serious Organised Crime Unit, said: “This operation is just a small part of a long-term plan to disrupt and dismantle serious organised crime across the Greater Manchester area.
Mohammed Imran Khan (33), of Cotton Hill Crescent, Oldham, and Mohammed Shanwaz (27), of Cornwall Crescent, Oldham, have been charged with importation of heroin in the UK. Both men were due to appear at Oldham Magistrates’ Court today.
