ACE centre celebrates ace news on funding

AN OLDHAM charity is one of only eight across the UK chosen to be part of a national fundraising appeal.
The ACE Centre, in Hollinwood, has been picked by the Guardian and Observer newspapers for their Christmas Appeal 2012.
The centre, at Hollinwood Business Centre, works with people unable to speak or write. Users of the service include Afonso, a 14-year-old who has cerebral palsy and cannot speak.
Thanks to the centre he now leads a relatively normal life at a mainstream school, where he was recently voted on to the school council. A high-tech communication aid allows him to “talk” to family and friends.
ACE manager Anna Reeves said: “I am absolutely delighted we been chosen. To have this recognition is a real honour and a fantastic way to end 2012.”
