Tea and cake for Laura, 101
Date published: 28 December 2012
MANY happy returns: Laura Robinson
A HOLIDAY lover who enjoyed trips all over the country well into her 90s was celebrating her 101st birthday today.
Laura Robinson was enjoying the day at Ashbourne House care home, Lees New Road, with family and friends — and a cup of tea and a slice of cake.
Laura, whose first job was at Derker cotton mill, met her husband James Sidney Robinson while teaching Sunday school in Greenacres.
After her husband’s death she lived with her daughter, Margaret, before moving into Ashbourne House.
Laura took trips all over the UK with a holiday group, though her favourite place was St Anne’s.
After her friends became unable to travel with her, she continued her trips, up to three times a year.
