First cut to homes in Derker
Date published: 08 January 2013
THE first of 165 new homes in Derker could go on sale as early as March.
Ground has been broken on the Derker Street, London Road and Afghan Street site — eight years after homes and businesses were cleared as part of ambitious multi-million regeneration plans. These fell through in March 2011 when the Government pulled the plug on its Housing Market Renewal fund.
Work will start later this month on the mix of two, three and four-bedroom homes. The project is expected to take four years.
