TO the rescue . . . firefighters tackle the blaze
A BUSINESS owner has praised firefighters who stopped a blaze from destroying his workshop.
The fire took hold at an industrial unit in Cheetham Street, Failsworth — and the shocked owner says crews from Hollins and Chadderton fire stations saved the building.
The blaze is thought to have been caused by a faulty electric motor.
The business’s owner said: “The crews were absolutely brilliant.
“We turned the equipment off but could smell something burning.
“We could see smoke but no flames - then it suddenly just went ‘boom’, the whole thing was on fire.
“I just can’t thank the firefighters enough, they did such a good job in those conditions. The whole lot could have gone.”
