PEOPLE hoping to slash their fuel bills by up to £250 a year are being urged to sign up to a new greater Manchester-wide energy scheme.

The Oldham Council initiatve has now expanded across all 10 local councils in the area; until January 28, the scheme hopes to sign up as many people as possible to achieve the best possible price energy prices among suppliers.

Once numbers are finalised, as in Oldham an auction will detemine which supplier will offer the best price for gas and electricity

Last autumn Oldham’s pilot scheme signed over 8,000 Oldhamers, who saved an average £171.

Councillor Arooj Shah said: “We’re confident this next run will be just as successful. I urge Greater Manchester residents to sign up. It shows how if we work together, we can really change for the better.”
