Controversial plans to build two houses on a green space in Diggle have been recommended for refusal by Saddleworth’s parish councillors, who had been bombarded with complaints about the application.
First Choice Homes Oldham submitted plans despite fierce opposition from residents concerned about development on a local green space.
The recommendation for refusal will now be passed to Oldham Council, which will consult residents before making a decision.
A statement from Diggle Community Association said of the plans: “Local people and the Diggle Community Association are strongly opposed to this proposal. The village green as the only green space in the centre of the village for use by the whole community.”
