ONE of Coronation Street’s biggest and oldest fans has died at the grand old age of 105.
Failsworth-born Edie Shufflebotham took a surprise visit down Britain’s most famous cobbled street on her 100th birthday, a programme she had not missed since its start in 1960.
She said at the time: “I have watched the series right from the first episode.”
Mrs Shufflebotham lived independently past her 100th birthday, after which she moved into Springfield Park Residential Home in Heywood, where she died peacefully on January 3.
The funeral is at St Luke’s, Heywood, on Monday at 2pm, followed by private committal.
