Rescuers help the mountain biker
OLDHAM Mountain Rescue Team helped ambulance crews to rescue a mountain biker who came a cropper on the moors near Diggle.
The volunteer rescuers helped to search for Edward Taylor, and aided ambulance crews as the injured man was treated at the scene and taken to hospital with a suspected broken collar bone.
Mick Nield, from Oldham Mountain Rescue, said the biker had fallen down a path on an embankment on a track known as Boat Lane. The team helped him back up, treated him, and transported him to the road at the Hanging Gate pub, Diggle.
Ten team members and two vehicles turned out to help the search-and-rescue operation, and were later thanked by Mr Taylor.
He commended them for their “professionalism and dedication” in making sure he got to hospital in as much comfort as possible, and said their actions were “something to be proud of.”
