EN route . . . Andy meets the crew at Failsworth Salvation Army
PLUCKY pensioner Andy Peddle stopped in Oldham as part of a mammoth charity walk across the UK and Ireland.
The 70 year old began his 7,900 mile journey in the Shetland Islands last May to raise £100,000 for the Salvation Army.
He is calling at every football league club as well as 949 Salvation Army churches and charity shops along the way.
His trip through Oldham included a visit to Boundary Park and the Salvation Army bases in Roundthorn, Fitton Hill and Failsworth. At each base he gives a short talk and receives donations.
Andy’s mission is due to end in October.
Major Mel Jones, leader of The Salvation Army’s Central North Division, said: “It is fantastic that Andy is taking on this personal pilgrimage to help those truly in need.”
