Steve Hill: on the huskie Trail
Teacher Steve is off on an Arctic adventure
INTREPID teacher Steve Hill is always on the lookout for a new challenge.
His latest will take him to the Arctic circle — to drive a team of dogs across the ice.
The deputy head at St Joseph’s Primary School, Shaw, has previously harnessed the enthusiasm of his pupils to drive him on massive feats of fund-raising endurance.
He shares every detail of the planning, preparation, and execution of his adventures with pupils to inspire their own challenges.
In turn the children organise fund-raising events to boost his sponsorship money, then decide where they want the money to go.
Steve’s Arctic expedition - during next month’s half-term - has kept him busy raising his fitness in preparation.
For nine days from February 16 he will be responsible for the care of a team of six huskies as he crosses 270 miles of Northern Sweden’s wilderness.
Steve’s adventures have motivated his Year Six classes to raise more than £25,000 for charity in the last four years.
You can sponsor Mr Hill - who is otherwise paying for the adventure himself, to maximise the amount raised for charity - at www.justgiving.com/Stephen-Hill5
