THE former Volvo garage - soon to be a gym
A PRIVATE gym is to take over the former Volvo dealership in Rochdale Road, Oldham.
The building, empty for two years, will have a £750,000 refit and will be home to hi-tech equipment and training facilities. Competition Line, which will take over the building, has 35 years experience in the industry.
The town’s main leisure provider, Oldham Community Leisure (OCL), says it isn’t rattled by the potential rival.
Chief executive Stuart Lockwood said OCL had been interested in the site itself but dropped its interest to pursue its winning contract to provide the borough’s overall leisure services:
OCL’s own new leisure centre, expected to replace Oldham Sports Centre next year, is only a short distance from the Volvo site.
