High demand for adult care
Date published: 25 January 2013
OLDHAM Council’s aim is to keep older people out of residential care for as long as possible.
The borough’s population will have grown by 10,900 (4.5 per cent) by 2022, which will put pressure on the demand for health services and support for independent living.
Oldham Council revealed the challenges as part of its adult social care annual report.
Life expectancy in the borough now stands at 75.7 years for men and 80.5 years for women — still far lower than the regional and national figures.
