Hunt for thugs after savage attack

POLICE today appealed for witnesses after two men were savagely attacked outside an Oldham restaurant.
The men were knocked out in the assaults by two strangers outside the Chinese Buffet in Yorkshire Street in the pre-dawn hours of January 5.
Police found the victims on the ground and ran after the attackers, arresting one of them.
Officers are now appealing for witnesses.
The two victims, aged 19 and 20, had left a nightclub and went to a nearby takeaway. They were confronted by two strangers who attacked them unprovoked. When they came around, they were on the ground, covered in blood.
One had a 2in cut on his right ear, a broken nose, black eye and cuts and bruises. The other suffered a 1in wound to the right side of his head..
Police arrested a 21-year-old man on suspicion of assault. They are now looking for a second man: white, in his 20s, 5ft 8in tall, medium build, bald, and wearing a black jumper with a white shirt underneath.
Det-Con Gulnaz Akhtar said: “This was a particularly vicious, needless, assault.”
