OLDHAM bus passengers will continue to be offered cheaper bus fares after a value-for-money ticket proved popular.
Bus operator First will continue to offer cut-price day and week tickets between Oldham and Manchester and anywhere within the M60.
Cheaper fares have seen even more people travel on First buses in Greater Manchester since the prices were reduced in November 2012.
Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) and Oldham Council have both welcomed the move to keep fares low.
Councillor Sean Fielding said: “We’re absolutely delighted to see First Bus extend this scheme.
“We have long believed reduced fares can help to stimulate more use of public transport, which is beneficial for all.
The four promotional fares are:
::FirstDayM60 costing £3.90 (compared with a regular FirstDay ticket at £4.50).
::FirstWeekM60 costing £13 (normally £18).
::FirstDayOldham costing £3.90 (usuallly £4.50).
::FirstWeekOldham costing £13 (normally £18).
Passengers must ask for the Oldham tickets or they will be charged the higher fare
Single, return and other ticket prices remain the same.
