A POWER to the people scheme has seen 35,000 residents join up saving a potential £3.1million from energy bills.
Billpayers are set to save an average £122 on an annual dual-fuel bill with the GM Fair Energy scheme, which closed for applications last week.
Offers will soon be sent to everyone who signed up to the scheme - a larger version of the one run by Oldham council late last year, which groups households together then offers their business to the lowest power supply bidder.
Almost 35,400 people registered for the county-wide scheme. making it the biggest of its kind in the country.
Another energy switching scheme will be launched in the spring.
