Tweeters needed for the Twestival

Date published: 08 February 2013

SOCIAL media savvy volunteers are needed to help create Oldham’s second Twestival.

The first Twestival was held two years ago in March, when Oldham linked to 150 towns and cities across the globe.

The concept is simply to use Twitter to arrange activities and raise money for charity.

The 2011 event raised £1,000 for Oldham Mountain Rescue Team with two events.

A group of tweeting volunteers donated their time to make the event a success.

Deborah Wroe, from Owl Marketing, which supervised the first festival, said: “We want to make sure Oldham stands proud on the social media stage again and pulls together a Twestival to hold its own against Paris, Tokyo, Sydney and the rest of the world.

“We are asking for volunteers to join the local organising team for 2013, and for someone to be this year’s lead organiser.

“We want Twestival Oldham 2013 to build on the positive buzz being felt in the town at the moment and to carry on getting Oldham talked about, on and offline, for all the right reasons.”
