It’s been a bumpy ride but we’re on the right road

AFTER a battering from snow, ice and rain, help is at hand for Oldham’s potholed roads.
Oldham Council’s new “Velocity Patcher” is out on the streets repairing the damage.
The equipment is part of a revolutionary new scheme to treat potholes and protect roads.
The machine forces material into the pothole under high pressure, preventing the voids that allow water to enter and cause bigger problems.
The approach is cheaper than traditional methods and reduces disruption to traffic.
Council chiefs have committed an extra £2 million over the next two years to fund repairs, with £500,000 to be spent before the end of March
Councillor Dave Hibbert said: “Over the last few months Oldham’s roads have suffered due to the extreme weather conditions.
“The Velocity Patcher makes the work quicker, stronger and less disruptive to traffic.
This project will offer the best possible value for money for Oldham Council taxpayers.”
