Deal saves Travelodge jobs
Oldham’s former Travelodge Hotel has been saved in a deal worth more than £1.5 million.
The Manchester Street building was previously leased to Travelodge and has been bought by operator Riddle Hotels from Piccadilly Hotels.
Riddle has bought the hotel as a going concern and intends to run it independently. The 102-bedroom site was one of a group of hotels including other Travelodge sites put up for sale before Christmas.
Deal broker Christie & Co director Martin Davis said the sale generated significant interest and the company received several offers.
Riddle director Sharon Riddle said: “We had been looking to acquire a hotel for some time and are delighted to have found this opportunity.
“We are looking forward to working with the staff and supporting the local community by growing and developing the business over the coming weeks and months.”
