Chronicle’s digital first for Cup game

Date published: 16 February 2013

YOUR Chronicle is up for the Cup! We’ll be producing a FIRST in our 159-year history to coincide with Athletic’s big FA Cup fifth-round tie with Everton on Saturday.
For the first time the newspaper will go digital before the usual print edition.

Our Saturday Sports Edition will be available online within hours of the match.

And to give Latics fans everywhere the chance to see the 12-page special we’re offering a discount price: just 99p for a week’s online Chronicle, including the Saturday night special!

Sign up for a week’s Chronicle’s online on the “eChron” tab above — it would normally cost you £2.99.

Register any time in the next seven days to qualify for the week’s worth of online Chronicles - and be in pole position to download the BIG match coverage any time after midnight on Saturday — possibly sooner.

Sports Editor Kevin Richardson said: “We were pleased with the 12-page supplement and other news and sport pages for the Liverpool victory and fans lapped it up. But that was for a Sunday afternoon match.

“When ITV decided to screen the Latics versus Everton game on Saturday night we didn’t want to wait until Monday to get our coverage to supporters. So we’ll have extra reporters and photographers at the game and a team waiting for the match action and post-match interviews.

“This has been an exciting cup run. Fans know our Latics specialist Matt Chambers will tell it like it is. We’re backing Latics all the way — just don’t ask me what we’ll do for the next round if they win!”
