A SUNBED user turned redder than usual after accidentally leaving it switched on — and setting fire to the bedroom.
Oldham fire crews were called to the house in Turner Street, Lees, to find a mattress alight.
The resident told firefighters the sunbed timer was broken and he normally switched it off at the plug.
Watch manager Jon Nolan said: “This time he must have left it on and it set fire to a mattress.
“The fire was only in one room but there was a lot of smoke damage and smoke had gone into the loft and through to the lofts of other houses.”
