Cheering on Latics with all his heart and Seoul!

OLDHAMER Chris Brown will be supporting Latics Gangnam style on Saturday.

Chris (26), from Springhead, will be cheering on his home team from his new home in the Gangnam district of Seoul, South Korea.

English teacher Chris will be staying up until 3am on Sunday to catch the kick-off — since he is nine hours ahead of GMT.

Mandarin-speaking Chris moved to South Korea two years ago but that hasn’t stopped his life-long love of Latics.

“I’ll be watching with a few friends,” said Chris. “I watched the Liverpool game with an American friend who’s a Liverpool fan - so I was happy and he wasn’t.

“If they win this game we’ll definitely be celebrating in style. If they can pull off the same performance as last time I reckon we could get a 1-1 draw or even win 1-0.

“I’m always nervous before a game - but this one will be even worse!”

Sleepless in Seattle
IF Latics manage to retain their giant-killing status on Saturday, chants and cheers will be heard around the world including America.

Martin Smith (46), originally from Derker, and his wife Catherine, from Clarksfield, will be watching the game live at their home in Seattle.

Although Martin says Catherine isn’t a big fan she always enjoys the big games and will be getting in the spirit of things.

A Latics follower since he was 11, Martin says he always goes to matches when he comes back to Oldham at Christmas and New Year.

And he’s such a dedicated follower he gets up at 7am on Saturdays to listen to internet station Latics Player so Saturday’s kick-off time will be a breeze. “It’ll be 10 in the morning for us so it might be a bit early for a drink . . . but if Latics reach the quarter finals that will be worth celebrating.”
