OUTLINED in red . . . the area which will be developed
Plans go on display
DRAFT proposals for a business park and 450 homes on a large swathe of green land in Chadderton will be unveiled next week.
People are being asked for their opinion on the controversial proposals for the 49 hectare site at Foxdenton.
Public exhibitions will be held at Newman College, Broadway, Chadderton, from 2pm-7pm on Wednesday and Thursday, and at the Spindles Shopping Centre from 9am-5pm on March 1.
A community consultation website will also launch next week.
Around 250 people attended the first protest meeting against the proposals for the land in January, which has been earmarked by Oldham Council for employment and housing.
Concerns include loss of green space and wildlife, flooding, traffic, road safety and the future of a riding school.
They also object to the proximity to the historical Foxdenton Park and Hall and say that there already many vacant industrial units in the area
Foxdenton LLP (Limited Liability Partnership) — made up of North West-based Seddon Group and property development business Grasscroft Property — has worked with the council to develop the proposals.
