Royton hospice Dr kershaw’s is to launch two new “supporters clubs”.

The clubs, for children and young adults up to the age of 21, will begin next week, and will offer fund-raising and volunteering experience.

Corporate and community fundraiser, Debbie Edwards said: “We have been working with schools and colleges across Oldham for many years now, and we wanted to provide additional guidance for students keen to raise money for us.”

Debbie will visit schools and colleges to show how money raised makes a difference to patients and their families.

Membership costs £12 a year, in return for a fundraising pack, a booklet with fundraising ideas, information on volunteering, and a twice-yearly newsletter. The scheme is being subsidised by the Woman of Oldham Committee.

It costs £4,650 a day to run the hospice, and only a small proportion of its costs come from the NHS.

Registration forms for the Kids’ Club and Young Supporters’ Club can be downloaded from www.drkershawshospice.org.uk
