Neighbour to rescue as family flees blaze
Date published: 22 February 2013
AN eagle-eyed neighbour woke a family of seven when he spotted a fire in the kitchen of their Clarksfield home in the early hours this morning.
An elderly woman, two children and four adults were able to escape from the Brewerton Road house at 1.50am and were taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital for checks.
John Nolan, watch commander at Oldham station, said: “There were no smoke alarms so the family is very lucky the neighbour woke them in time.”
