Brian wows Lydgate crowd

PROFESSOR Brian Cox charmed an audience of more than 190 friends, neighbours and admirers in Lydgate last night.
The former Hulme pupil was keeping a long-standing promise to attend a fundraising event for Love Lydgate - the community group that raises money for the upkeep of the village.
The professor spoke for 20 minutes on his favourite subject, the planets, before taking questions from the floor.
His hosts presented him with a personal cookbook compiled and autographed by celebrity chef Heston Blumenthal.
