OBESITY rates in Oldham are significantly lower than elsewhere in the North-West, a new report shows.
The report, from the Health and Social Care Information Centre, said Oldham Primary Care Trust had 17 admissions with obesity-related health issues in 2011-12 - around eight admissions for every 100,000 people. The North-West had 13 in 100,000.
Oldham carried out 10 weight-reduction operations - stomach stapling, gastric bypass and other aids to weight loss - while across the UK hospitals carried out 8,790.
