POLICE detain a man caught by members of the public in High Street, Oldham
MEMBERS of the public have been commended for grabbing a suspected robber.
A man was held yesterday afternoon outside Nationwide Building Society in High Street, Oldham, after an attempted robbery at jewellers Simpsons.
One of the citizen cops, a 46-year-old man, received a head injury while the suspect was being held on the ground for police.
Officers arrested a 41-year-old man on suspicion of robbery - and suggested a second offender may have been involved. The robbers smashed a shop counter.
A police spokesman said: “The members of the public who detained a man on the street are extremely brave and commendable.”
