Accident schoolgirl airlifted to hospital

A young girl was flown to hospital by helicopter for treatment to her injuries yesterday morning after she was hit by a car as she made her way to school.
Police were called to the junction of Gainsborough Avenue and Copster Hill Road, Coppice, at around 8.40am, to reports that a nine-year-old girl had been hit by a blue Honda Jazz.
The youngster was taken away by air ambulance to the Royal Oldham Hospital where she had a scan and x-ray.
Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 101.
