Volunteers needed to make a difference

Date published: 04 March 2013

Oldham Council’s Integrated Youth Services and Girlguiding North-West have linked up to promote volunteering opportunities for people who are interested in working with children and young people.

Both organisations have volunteering positions available, in the evenings or weekends, and they are looking for committed, enthusiastic and positive volunteers aged 18 and over who want to make a contribution to their communities.
“It may be that you are interested in running your own Girlguiding group, or want to help support existing youth sessions in the area,” said Jodie Barber. senior youth work manager at the council. “What ever your interest we have opportunities to suit.”

Integrated Youth Services provide a range of opportunities for children and young people that enable them to fulfil their potential.

Working in a wide range of settings, the service provides activities in a safe environment, running programmes including sports, arts, drama, discussion, one-to-one support, group work and much more.

With teams based across all six districts of Oldham, working with thousands of young people, there is a wealth of opportunities for volunteers to make a difference in the lives of young people.
