Pigeons in a right mesh

PIGEONS got themselves into a flap when they became trapped in a shopping arcade.

The alarm was raised after a mother and daughter spotted that one of the feathered friends had died up in the rafters of Manchester Chambers.

Kate Jackson said: “We were walking through the Chambers when we noticed the birds above the mesh and when we saw one had died up there, my little girl got upset.”

Local pest control company Green Care was quick to the scene and service manager, Steve Smythe, used bird seed to charm the birds down.

Deborah Fielding, managing director of Green Care, said: “When we put the net up in the roof of the chambers it was to stop the pigeons fouling on the shop fronts and the ground below.

“Though we thought they were all gone, some of the pigeons must have been hidden away in the cavities where they had been nesting.

“We have now inserted some zips into the mesh so that if any more get trapped, we can free them easily or complete any maintenance necessary.”
