BRIDE-to-be Sandra Langley believes her late mother Mary provided the luck she needed to win the Chronicle’s wedding competition.
Sandra (31) and her fiance Scott Normington (32) were delighted to discover they had claimed the top prize — worth £8,000 — after collecting coupons from the paper.
The prize package includes a civil ceremony and wedding breakfast for up to 60 guests at Best Western Smokies Park Hotel in Bardsley plus a DJ, drinks and buffet for 120 evening guests.
Sandra will also be able to pick a dress from Bella Rose Bridal plus a bouquet from Alison’s Floral Boutique and transport from High Style Cars.
Shocked
From Balloons and More, the couple will receive full venue dressing and Howard Nilsen Photography will capture all the fun on the day.
Outrageous Fortunes Casinos will provide a manned casino table for the evening do.
Sandra, of Broadway Street, Hathershaw, said: “Me and Scott have been together for six years and we were planning to get married last year but I lost my mum in October so everything went on the back burner. When I saw this competition I just decided to go for it. I never thought I’d win so I’m really shocked.
“I like to think my mum was watching and gave us some luck. She’d be delighted about us winning. We were really close. All our family and friends are really happy for us.”
Sandra and Scott, who has two sons from a previous relationship, will meet with the wedding planner at Smokies this week to put plans in place for the ceremony and reception. The pair met in Walkabout in Oldham town centre and say it was love at first sight. Sandra’s name was picked out at a Bridal Fayre at Smokies, in Ashton Road, yesterday where brides to be were able to browse a selection of services from cakes to cars and flowers to favours.
