Owls of protest over bird theft
Date published: 05 March 2013
COMMUNITY stalwart Warren Bates is angry that a carved wooden owl has been stolen from outside the Failsworth Metrolink Station.
He was stunned to see it had been cut from its base, and has appealed to locals to help find the person who took it. He said it was a “beautiful carving,” and acted as a landmark for people passing through the area.
“The children going to Mather Street School and parents were all aware of and appreciative of the carving, as were the many people who use the station,” said Mr Bates. “Hopefully with all the CCTV modern technology around the station the culprits will be apprehended as soon as possible and the carving put back in place.”
