A DRIVE to encourage more companies to consider exporting led to an Oldham business taking part in a Government-organised trip to Dublin.
Safeguard, based on Westwood Industrial Estate, Chadderton, was one of the companies taking part in this week’s two-day Export Insight visit, the largest of its kind.
The company, which specialises in supplying and maintaining air conditioning, commercial refrigeration and catering equipment, is investigating new markets in Ireland.
More than 60 delegates from companies across the UK travelled to the city in the trip organised by UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) North-West, the Government department that helps UK businesses succeed in the global economy.
It aims to give new and inexperienced exporters the opportunity to benefit from a programme of networking and training events.
The visit included a welcome from Ambassador Dominick Chilcott, presentations from Simon McKeever, director of UKTI Ireland and various senior directors from a range of Irish companies.
With the talks covering topics such as banking, professional service, logistics, marketing, business culture and legal issues, the event, it is hoped, will have given companies the confidence to progress and expand their horizons.
