Lamp-post row lights up again

COMPLAINTS have followed Oldham Council’s joint action with utility company EON to replace all the borough’s lamp posts.
Sandra Boffin of Sholver Lane is furious that after six months she has been told by the company that a post shining into her bedrom window is to stay.
“I told EON and the council straight away it would shine right into my bedroom. They promised me they would move it somewhere a bit more appropriate - and they’ve sent four different people to look at moving it.
“But they’ve just told me they are leaving it where it is. All my requests have been ignored.
“When I speak to EON they pass me to the council and vice versa. They keep blaming one another. It’s so unfair what they’re doing to me.”
Paul Gledhill of Warlow Drive, Greenfield, has been arguing his case with Oldham Council for months after complaining that lights on his street are switched on all day.
“I’ve been emailing the council for months. The last response said that they would get back to me within a week with an answer as to why the lamp was put there and why it never goes off. That was over a month ago and there’s been no word. It is so frustrating.”
Paul has since been told by the street lighting team that EON should go to investigate his complaint.
EON failed to respond to requests for a comment.
