SHOCKED shoppers got caught out as fierce blizzards swept through Oldham yesterday.

Within a few minutes, an inch of snow had covered the ground in the morning, as people made their way through the town centre.

The snow continued on and off throughout the day, interspersed with sunshine in one of the oddest days of spring weather for years.
