OLDHAM Fire Station could become a venue for learner drivers to take their tests under a new partnership venture between Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and the Driving Standards Agency.
Councillor David Acton, chairman of Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Authority, said: “This is a really exciting partnership because GMFRS is the first fire service in the country to see its stations become official DSA driving test centres.
It is hoped that by taking the tests at fire stations and being surrounded by firefighters, young drivers will be encouraged to be more careful when driving.
