Motorists were left terrified when a knifeman went on the rampage at a Failsworth petrol station.
The man threatened members of the public with the large knife on the forecourt at the Texaco petrol station on Oldham Road as he tried to force his way into cars.
He damaged several parked cars as shocked drivers looked on.
The man ran off in the direction of the Rochdale canal.
Police have issued an efit of the man following the incident on the evening of February 22
He is described as white, 6ft tall and of average build. He was wearing denim jeans and boots with a white trim.
He wore a brown or black bubble jacket over a hooded top. The jacket had a large Union Jack motif on the front.
