Sun in hot water over gas blast reporting
Date published: 19 March 2013
THE Sun newspaper has been issued a court summons after allegedly breaching reporting laws during the Andrew Partington trial.
Partington (27) was jailed for 10 years when he pleaded guilty to manslaughter and property damage following the Shaw blast in June, 2012, in which two-year-old Jamie Heaton died.
The breaches relate to an article in the newspaper and an online version that appeared on September 11, 2012.
The paper used information from a written report from Oldham Magistrates’ Court not permitted to be used in news reports.
A hearing is scheduled for April 5.
