£7,000 cost of mill-fire risk

A BUSINESSMAN has been ordered to pay more than £7,000 after pleading guilty to fire-safety offences at his former premises in Chadderton.
Tariq Saeed (56), of Woodlands Road, Manchester, pleaded guilty to six offences of failing to protect persons from fire risks at Dreamwise Bedding in Ram Mill, off Broadway.
He was fined £6,000 with £1,125 costs by Oldham magistrates.
Charges included failing to review and keep up-to-date fire-risk assessments, failing to ensure employees were trained in fire safety and failing to ensure fire exits were clear.
