Ady in 435-mile cycle challenge

FORMER Oldham policeman Ady Raynor will not be taking a-rrest during his forthcoming charity challenge.
The 50-year-old who moved from Royton to France eight years ago, is riding a mammoth 700km (435 miles) on his bike to raise money for a memorial fund set up for policewomen Fiona Bone and Nicola Hughes, who were killed in Hyde.
Teaming up with other officers from Oldham, he will pedal from Ruffec to Royton, setting off on Wednesday, July 3.
Ady expects the ride to take a week — riding the equivalent of Manchester to Blackpool each day — and is calling on Oldhamers who want to take part to join him.
He said: “The memorial fund is a great cause.
“I’ve been on many a job where you’ve gone round to see someone and think you have half a chance of getting a cup of tea and then you get assaulted — but to be shot doing an every day duty is just shocking.
“Any cash we raise will support the families of Fiona and Nicola.”
The team is also looking for local business who could provide both free energy drinks or a GPS to use on the bikes.
