Date published: 26 March 2013
A mother-of-three who was shortlisted for a Pride in Oldham award because of her dedication to the elderly, children and those with learning disabilities has died.
Jean Piatczanyn (58) was born in Fitton Hill, and lived in Oldham all her life, moving to Hollins when she married in the early 1980s.
She spent her career caring for others, working at Elizabeth House in Glodwick, Oldham Scope and then for Oldham Council’s Social Services Department. Her passion was caring for adults with learning disabilities.
She was nominated for a Pride in Oldham award in 2005 by her youngest son, Lucas, to recognise the love and support she gave to everybody close to her.
She passed away suddenly on Mother’s Day, suffering from ischaemic heart disease. She had spent the day with her family, including young grandson, Malikie.
