Hot stuff at salsa fiesta

Photocall to promote 'The Giddy Gringos' evening of music and dancing at Uppermill Civic Hall. Alan Keane, Edward Minien-Keane, David Keane, Cllr Brian Lord, Joan McLean (Chairman's Charity Committee member), Cllr Pat Lord, Barbara Brogan (Chairman's Charity Committee member) and Andrew Preston.
THE Giddy Gringos enlisted the help of Saddleworth Parish Council chairman, Councillor Brian Lord, and Councillor Pat Lord, to bang out a drum roll heralding their arrival.
The musicians are back for a second annual evening of Latin and salsa music and dancing, and plan to match last year’s hugely successful sell-out event.
Planned for Uppermill Civic Hall on Saturday, the Spring Salsa Fiesta will see hot dancing to help banish the winter blues, and welcome in the warmer weather of spring.
Cuban dance instructors Salsa de Cuba will use their skills to help turn the dance-shy into slick movers — and no partners are required.
Topping the bill are the Giddy Gringos, Oldham and Saddleworth’s own 13-piece Latin, salsa and boogaloo band.
Proceeds from the event will go to the Saddleworth Parish Council Chairman’s charities, which include the Royal Oldham Hospital League of Friends, Macmillan Cancer Care, Oldham Diabetes Volunteer Support Group and local charities.
Councillor Lord said: “We are delighted to be hosting this event alongside the Giddy Gringos and Salsa De Cuba.
Councillor Pat Lord added: “We are looking forward to another fun evening of Latin music and dance at this wonderful local venue.”
Tickets cost £15 from Uppermill Post Office or by emailing giddygringos@gmail.com.
